They say many good and rejuvenating experiences are “just like coming home.” But why do we say this? What is it about returning to the places we feel at home that bring us such peace and relief?
-Is it the familiarity? The freedom from outside responsibilities? The fact that we have an opportunity to rest?
‘Home’ is a safe haven. For some, home isn’t even a physical place because for one reason or another the place they reside does not bring about peace and rejuvenation. In fact, ‘home’ seems to just be the place where we can feel our entire body and soul just relax as the weights of the day get shrugged off and we can breathe again.
Coming Home is one of life’s most exquisitely simple pleasures.
I wonder how much greater then the return to Heaven will be for my spirit? If just returning to my pj’s and my couch brings me such peace and joy how much greater will it be to return to Heaven where I will no longer suffer fear, or pain, or responsibility, or uncertainty, or all the things that bog down my earthly days. What relief and pure elation it will be to enter into Christ’s domain and be able to shrug off all the earthly garbage and BREATHE AGAIN!
How will that feel? I long to know because I bet it will be truly awesome.
**Don’t read it wrong, I am perfectly content with my life now and there is no greater fear than Christ calling me home before I know my children will join me in eternity- I am not ready to die. I believe there is kingdom work for me here yet and eternity with God will be worth waiting a short lifetime for. **
1 Corinthians 2:9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him—
Philippians 3:20But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. 20But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.
Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Do you know where your soul will call “home” when you pass away? Are you as curious and excited by the incomprehensible and amazing promises of Heaven as I am? What about coming home to the place Jesus has prepared for you brings you the most joy?
