Brownies are good. Cheesecake might even be better. But combined: these marbled dessert slices are a hit-the-spot sweet treat foe me every time! I hate paying for a box-mix brownie when I know I can make them myself for half the cost and add in my favorite alternatives like cheesecake swirls or chocolate chips for the same price as boring boxed brownie mix. Woohoo! Here’s my super affordable and easy recipe for delicious Cheesecake Brownies from scratch!
Jump to RecipeThe really nice thing is that the basic brownie mix is made almost exactly the same way as you would prepare a box mix; the only difference is you are making the mix yourself. Some would say to sift your dry ingredients together so there’s no clumps, and you most definitely can do that, but I just take a metal whisk and use that to thoroughly combine the dry ingredients and it seems to break the clumps just fine!
Once you have the dry ingredients combined you will notice the wet ingredients look very similar to the ones on a box mix. Hint hint- that’s because they are! Add in your egg and oil and you have your own homemade box mix brownies!
Now, the exciting part for me is taking it one step further and adding in the swirls of cheesecake! The slightly savory cream-cheese flavor really balances and compliments the sweet chocolate taste for me. And the best part? It’s SO simple! Just grab a half block of softened cream cheese, about a 1/3 cup of table sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract and combine using an electric mixer until it’s creamy! I like to mix mine with a hand mixer and it works well! Add the cream cheese mixture to your brownie batter in the pan and give it a good swirl with a spatula or butter knife.

Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, and you’re done! Enjoy your homemade brownie treat!
From Scratch Cheesecake Brownies
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients- Basic Brownie Mix
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/3 cup baking cocoa
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
Wet Ingredients- Basic Brownie Mix
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Cheesecake Mix
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 package Cream Cheese 8 oz package
- 1/2 cup sugar
Instructions
- Preheat Oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine Dry Ingredients together. Use a sifter or metal whisk to remove any clumps.
- Add in wet ingredients: eggs, vegetable oil, and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
- Place brownie batter in a greased baking pan.
- Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, combine softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Beat until the mixture is combined and becomes nice and creamy.
- Pour in the cream cheese mixture and using a buttered knife or spatula, swirl the cheesecake and brownie mixtures together to create a marbled look!
- Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean! Baking times will vary depending on how large of a pan you use- estimate around 20-30 minutes!
